Adrian Joseph
Machel-Mandela Fellow
Adrian Joseph is a Machel-Mandela Fellow. He is currently completing an MA in International Relations at the University of Cape Town (UCT) where his thesis focuses on the role of critical minerals in Africa's energy transition. During his time at UCT he achieved a runner-up place in the Nedbank Budget Speech Competition in the undergraduate category for his essay on land reform in South Africa. Adrian also holds a BA (Hons) in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics from the same institution. Prior to the Brenthurst Foundation, Adrian served as a Konrad Adenauer Stiftung scholar and an intern at the South African Institute of International Affairs where he worked in the Climate Change and Natural Resources Programme. His interests focus on issues relating to the just energy transition and natural resource governance in Africa and he has published several op-eds and research publications on this topic
