Former Argentinian Minister of Economy, Alfonso Prat-Gay, joins The Brenthurst Foundation

The Brenthurst Foundation is pleased to announce that former Argentinian Minister of Economy, Alfonso Prat-Gay, has joined its Advisory Board.

Alfonso obtained a Masters degree in economics from the University of Pennsylvania before a successful career as an investment banker with J P Morgan in New York, Buenos Aires and London.

He was president of the Central Bank of Argentina and then a congressman before becoming Minister of the Economy of Argentina in 2015, serving under President Mauricio Macri, where he had to deal with the legacy of the previous government’s poor economic management. He was widely lauded for his stabilisation of the economy and the currency.

Brenthurst Foundation Director, Dr Greg Mills, said: “Alfonso’s wealth of experience brings a depth of knowledge about developing world economics and insight into how governments can change tack to restore confidence in their economies that will be invaluable to the work of the Brenthurst Foundation across Africa.”
