Brenthurst Foundation Team to Observe Liberia Election
The Brenthurst Foundation is sending an Election Observation Mission to Liberia from 6 – 12 October 2023 to observe voting for the President, House of Representatives and half the Senate on Tuesday, 10 October 2023.
This crucial exercise will underscore and help strengthen democratic efforts in Liberia and learn lessons that might be applied elsewhere in Africa. It follows successful election observation missions to Somaliland, Kenya and Lesotho.
We are pleased to announce that the team will be led by the former President of South Africa and member of The Brenthurst Foundation Advisory Board, H.E Kgalema Motlanthe. The team comprises delegates from South Africa, Zimbabwe, Ghana, Kenya, Senegal, Sudan, Poland, Greece, Afghanistan, and the USA.
The mission's objectives include:
- Promoting Transparency: By closely observing the electoral process, the mission seeks to promote transparency and accountability in all stages of election day activities.
- Supporting Democracy: By engaging with local stakeholders and authorities, the mission aims to encourage democratic practices and facilitate peaceful electoral outcomes.
The Mission will observe the Liberian elections at locations across the country and compile a statement to be released to the public after the voting and collation have been completed.
