Luis Membreno

Salvadoran economist and businessman, Luis Membreño, established Columa Investments as well as Luis Membreño Consulting. Since 1999, he has served on the Board of the Salvadoran Foundation for Economic and Social Development (FUSADES). Between 2001 and 2005 he was Director of the Board of Directors of Banco de Comercio. He has been a columnist for La Prensa Grafica since 1999. He has conducted multiple studies for companies, national and international organisations, such as: CHEMONICS-USAID, ARD INC., Philip Morris, BATCA, UNDP, World Bank, BCIE, among others.

Luis Membreño holds a degree in Economics, and one is in Political Science from the University Francisco Marroquin of Guatemala, and a post graduate degree in Applied Macroeconomics from the Catholic University of Chile. He has also made numerous contributions to the public sector, where he served as Advisor in the Ministry of Planning (1989-1990), Advisor to the Chairman of the Central Reserve Bank, and Advisor to the Minister of Finance (2001-2003), among others.
