Why Ukraine's Struggle is Africa's Struggle

There are a number of parallels between what is currently going on in Ukraine with Africa's colonial struggle. Yet the continent's voice has been relatively muted on the matter. That needs to change.

Does the war in Ukraine matter to Africa? The African continent's response to Russia's invasion of Ukraine has been mixed at best, indifferent at worst.

The fact that just 27 countries from the continent voted to condemn the war at the UN, while 17 absteined, notwithstanding Eritrea's vote against the motion, shows a large proportion of African governments think they stand more to gain by not speaking up.
